Smell Fresh Arizona utilizes ozone (activated oxygen) and hydrogen peroxide generators to treat businesses, homes, RV’s and automobiles. We find ozone to be more time effective to “shock treat” properties, as we can produce ozone in higher concentrations. However, these treatments must be done in the absence of people, pets, and plants.  Our hydrogen peroxide generators are equally effective in sterilizing and deodorizing properties and are safe to use around people!  These are excellent long term solutions where germ and odor sources may be reoccurring, such as in homes with pets or day cares and restaurants.

WHAT IS OZONE?

Interestingly, ozone occurs quite readily in nature, most often as a result of lightning strikes that occur during thunderstorms. In fact that “fresh, clean, spring rain” smell that we notice after a storm most often results from natures creation of ozone.  As one of the most powerful disinfectants in the world, its function is to destroy bacteria, viruses and odors in nature.

In simple chemistry terms, it is nothing more than a normal oxygen molecule, with an extra oxygen atom attached to it.  Because this O3 molecule is so unstable, it wants to quickly release that third oxygen atom and return to an O2 molecule which we breath.  So healthy breathable oxygen is it’s only byproduct.

Ozone is environmentally friendly and clean.

Ozone is twice as destructive to bacteria and acts 3000 times faster than Chlorine.

Ozone is the most powerful known broad-spectrum microbiological control agent with no toxic after-effects.

HOW DOES OZONE WORK?    

As mentioned above, ozone wants to release that third oxygen atom.  That third oxygen atom acts as a free radical that attacks odor producing, carbon-chain molecules making up the membranes of cell walls.  It breaks them down in a process known as cell lysis.  The cell’s cytoplasm is released and it causes the cell to burst from the inside out.  Thus, bacteria can never develop an immunity to ozone.

When used as directed, Ozone Generators have repeatedly shown they can safely and completely kill odors, mold, mildew, bacteria and viruses – even resistant ones like MRSA, and Ebola.

IS OZONE GAS HARMFUL TO PEOPLE, PETS, OR PLANTS?

Our treatment is only done in the absence of people, pets, and plats.  After treatment of closed spaces, we require a proper ventilation period before the space can be reoccupied.  Ozone gas dissipates very quickly and leaves no harmful residue.

The process and treatment of closed spaces by ozone gas generators is so well understood to be safe by the medical profession, that many hospitals utilize ozone sterilization processes in their operating rooms, and wards with highly infectious patients.

DOES OZONE LEAVE A RESIDUE?           

Simply put, no.  Ozone is an unstable gas that dissipates quickly.  It wants to return to friendly, breathable oxygen as quickly as possible, so it does not remain in a harmful state very long.  The remedy to make any closed space safe for plants, pets, and people, is simply to ventilate the space with fresh air for a short time after treatment.

WE ALSO USE A THERMAL FOGGING TREATMENT WHEN NECESSARY

When necessary, we also use oil based chemicals specifically formulated to address specific odor sources.  In the case of tobacco, ozone does not work alone.  So we treat for tobacco odors first with ozone generators, then follow up with a thermal fogging treatment.  Our specially formulated chemical treatment neutralizes and encapsulates the tar deposits from tobacco smoke.  Check out our video of a basic thermal fogging treatment.
